Once you have government health care, it can be used to justify almost any restraint on freedom: After all, if the state has to cure you, it surely has an interest in preventing you needing treatment in the first place. That's the argument behind, for example, mandatory motorcycle helmets, or the creepy teams of government nutritionists currently going door to door in Britain and conducting a "health audit" of the contents of your refrigerator. They're not yet confiscating your Twinkies; they just want to take a census of how many you have. So you do all this for the "free" health care—and in the end you may not get the "free" health care anyway. Under Britain's National Health Service, for example, smokers in Manchester have been denied treatment for heart disease, and the obese in Suffolk are refused hip and knee replacements. Patricia Hewitt, the British Health Secretary, says that it's appropriate to decline treatment on the basis of "lifestyle choices." Smokers and the obese may look at their gay neighbor having unprotected sex with multiple partners, and wonder why his "lifestyle choices" get a pass while theirs don't. But that's the point: Tyranny is always whimsical. - Mark Steyn in his article: "Live Free or Die!"

Do you say you would not go up and down your streets knocking on each neighbor's door and pointing a gun at each neighbor's head demanding money to pay for your health care?

Why not? Do you feel less like a thief letting your politicians do it for you?

Do you say you want respectable health care? What self-respecting doctor would remain working under conditions of bureaucratic slavery? Pay attention to the words of Dr. Thomas Hendricks from Ayn Rand's novel Atlas Shrugged:

Do you know what it takes to perform a brain operation? Do you know the kind of skill it demands, and the years of passionate, merciless, excruciating devotion that go to acquire that skill? That was what I would not place at the disposal of men whose sole qualification to rule me was their capacity to spout the fraudulent generalities that got them elected to the privilege of enforcing their wishes at the point of a gun. I would not let them dictate the purpose for which my years of study had been spent, or the conditions of my work, or my choice of patients, or the amount of my reward. I observed that in all the discussions that preceded the enslavement of medicine, men discussed everything--except the desires of the doctors. Men considered only the "welfare" of the patients, with no thought for those who were to provide it. That a doctor should have any right, desire or choice in the matter, was regarded as irrelevant selfishness; his is not to choose, they said, only "to serve." . . . I have often wondered at the smugness with which people assert their right to enslave me, to control my work, to force my will, to violate my conscience, to stifle my mind--yet what is it that they expect to depend on, when they lie on an operating table under my hands?

Perhaps before you run around voicing pop platitudes about the need for government run health care, you should read Atlas Shrugged.

Atlas Shrugged is one of the world's greatest novels, more widely sold in America than any book other than the Holy Bible. If you want to really understand what is happening in America today, you'll want to read Atlas Shrugged.

"God's laws will keep your minds at peace, because peace IS His Will, and His laws are established to uphold it. His are the laws of freedom, but yours are the laws of bondage. Since freedom and bondage are irreconcilable, their laws CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD TOGETHER. The laws of God work only for your good, and there ARE no other laws beside His. Everything else is merely lawLESS, and therefore chaotic." -Jesus Christ in A Course in Miracles

“Three things taught me Conservative love: Jesus, Ronald Reagan, plus Atlas Shrugged” - David Rufful and Josh Riddle in their video: "The Young Con Anthem"

Jesus and Atlas Shrugged? A commenter on an earlier post here wrote: "How on earth are you reconciling A Course in Miracles with Ayn Rand? It boggles the mind."

Of course a mind will choose to be boggled if it sees two seemingly dissimilar things and says to itself, "Trying to reconcile those is too much work for me."

There would be a temptation to think this commentator might be a liberal. Because liberals have very lazy minds, unwilling to look at either the immorality of their policies or the ultimate destructive results ... like non-thinking cultists, star-gazingly invested in the latest "progressive" utterances.

On the other hand, a lazy mind is not the only reason for unwillingness to examine seeming dissimilarities. A belligerent mind will also refuse to look deeper than surface appearances, usually a mind with a strong ego-vested interest in defending a cult's belief system at all costs.

To begin recognizing what Jesus Christ and Ayn Rand shared in common one would have to have what is called an open mind. One would have to say something like, "What do these conservative boys see in Ayn Rand that they also see in Jesus Christ?" Maybe a beginning answer can be found HERE

"If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we'd be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world." - American President Barack Hussein Obama

It's not that President Obama wants to make America into a totally Muslim country, it's that his liberal mind-set is, with respect to non-Christian religions, addicted to appeasement.

ap - pease –verb ...to yield or concede to the belligerent demands of (a nation, group, person, etc.) in a conciliatory effort, sometimes at the expense of justice or other principles.

Actually, always at the expense of justice and the principle of individual rights. Liberals wanted to appease Saddam Hussein in Iraq. All along they've been appeasing Hamas terrorists in Palestine and Extremist Mullahs in Iran. Appeasement always leads to more of the same, ratcheted up demands, eventually destructive crisis. But as with anyone with any addiction, liberals cannot stop appeasing.

As President Obama and his fellow travellers continue to appease Muslim demands for sharia (Muslim Law) in America, you will hear of more and more implementation of the following laws:

1. Islam commands aggressive jihad.

2. Islam orders apostates to be killed.

3. Islam orders death for Muslim and possible death for non—Muslim critics of Muhammad and the Quran and even sharia itself.

4. Islam orders unmarried fornicators to be whipped and adulterers to be stoned to death.

5. Islam commands that homosexuals must be executed.

6. Islam commands that highway robbers should be crucified or mutilated.

7. Islam commands that a male or female thief must have a hand cut off.

8. Islam allows an injured plaintiff to exact legal revenge—physical eye for physical eye.

9. Islam allows husbands to beat their wives even if the husbands merely fear highhandedness in their wives.

10. Islam commands that drinkers and gamblers should be whipped.

For a thorough discussion of these laws, with examples of their current implementation in Muslim regions, see the following web site: American Thinker

None of these laws is "liberal," but that's unimportant to liberals. What IS important is appeasement.

Meanwhile, God's laws are genuinely liberal. As a contrast to Muslim sharia law, it might be interesting to see what God's laws truly are:

"God's laws will keep your minds at peace, because peace IS His Will, and His laws are established to uphold it. His are the laws of freedom, but yours are the laws of bondage. Since freedom and bondage are irreconcilable, their laws CANNOT BE UNDERSTOOD TOGETHER. The laws of God work only for your good, and there ARE no other laws beside His.
